Edward James Nolan, Commemorative volumes of the Centenary celebration of the Academy

Scope and Contents

This collection represents a specially prepared copy of Volume 15 of the Journal of the Academy, second series, 1912. The original letterpress copy is used as a base with interleaving and manuscript material inserted by the Recording Secretary, E. J. Nolan and presented to the Academy. The inserts consist of portraits, photographs, letters, reports, reminiscences, news clippings and many miscellaneous items. A total of 43 photographs, 53 letters, and 31 other items complete the volume.

Scope and Contents

This collection consists of photographs of instructors, students, and classrooms in the Department of Domestic Science and Arts. Also included are photos taken in Wissahickon Creek and three team pictures from the women's basketball team. Identified faculty and students in the collection include: Albert P. Brubaker, Ellen Morris, Katherine J. Coolidge, Helen M. Spring, Anna Anthony, Maude G. Hopkins.

Anny Elston papers

Overview

Anny Elston (1895-1975), a German born and trained pediatrician, immigrated to the United States in 1941 due to the "Racial Laws" in Nazi Germany. After obtaining her New York State Medical License in 1942, she began practicing medicine in New York City until retiring in 1972. The Anny Elston papers include information regarding Dr. Elston's medical credentials and continuing education, her medical practice in New York City, and patient records.

Scope and Contents

Photographs taken by Ethelbert Watts for the expedition sent out by the Imperial Academy of Science, Leningrad, for the excavation of the Mammoth found in the River Berezowska, in 1901. The collection includes photographs of the skeleton mounted in the museum in Leningrad.

Football records

Abstract

The football team had its unofficial beginning at the Drexel Institute in 1892 as a student-organized sport and was discontinued by Drexel's Board of Trustees in 1973. Records consist of game programs, newspaper clippings, administrative files, rosters, score sheets, and press material. The bulk is from 1950 to 1973; materials prior to 1950 consists mainly of game programs. Administrative files include a brief history of the football program up to the 1930s.
